Don’t just take our word for it!

As a result of an incident outside of my control all of the electrical wiring in my sauna was damaged. When assessed my an electrician I was initially told the sauna was a write off. Rightfully, insurance should have replaced the sauna or wiring, but they wouldn’t. I spoke to Sascha from the clearlight customer service team and the assistance I received was exceptional. Sascha was extremely proactive, going above and beyond the standard expected. Not only did Sascha find a solution for my problem but more impressively a solution that did not leave me out of pocket. At a time when customer service is generally pretty ordinary across the board. Sascha is setting the gold standard of what customer service should be. Experiences like this is what keeps customers coming back.

Not only are Clearlight Saunas a beautiful product but there aftersales service is brilliant as well. The few little issues I have had over the few years we have now had our Sauna have been sorted out in record time. Excellent company to deal with.

The Customer Support Team were very prompt in responding to some specific enquiries we had about our sauna and sent a link with a very informative and easy-to-follow video which gave us a resolution very quickly. We also received a follow-up email from Sascha to ensure that we were satisfied and our enquiry was resolved which was very thoughtful. I'm very happy with the interactions we had with the Customer Support Team, albeit very minimal, as the sauna has been fantastic!

I have the Yoga Sanctuary Sauna for a few years now and it has been a incredible tool in my Health management...truly now I can’t see myself without it! Since day one from talking to Sebastian to Katya and in the last couple of years the very helpful Craig (..Clearlight should never let you go Craig!!)..has been some of the best customer service I have ever received in the world ! I also recently started exploring some of their other great quality products like the Halo and RLT . I wish you all ..including Sarah and the rest of the “invisible “ team, whose names never get mentioned, but nonetheless are crucial to make it all happen... the best of luck ! Kind Regards Rodrigo

We bought a two-person Clearlight sauna in 2015. Seven years later, still couldn't be happier with the product we put a great deal of research into before committing. Yes . . . a Clearlight sauna is an investment, however what price do you place on excellent quality; very high, long-term usage without incident (since delivery, every second day / frequently every day;) and exceptional customer service when needed? Every single time we've had to contact Clearlight Saunas the last seven years (three in total), they've been there . . . promptly communicating, facilitating and resolving. As long-term customers, we cannot fault Clearlight in the two areas that matter - product and service. Don't usually write reviews, however with this company was compelled to. So . . . thank you, Clearlight Saunas. You're a brilliant company and are excellent to deal with.

What Is an Infrared Sauna?

While traditional saunas heat up the air around you to high temperatures, infrared saunas allow you to sweat more profusely at a reduced temperature.

Our saunas use infrared lamps to raise the temperature of the space and enable you to relax. By relaxing your muscles with the heat, you can loosen up stiff areas of your body and treat yourself to a feel-good sweat session.

What Is the Difference Between an Infrared Sauna and a Steam Type Traditional Sauna?
Mechanism Of Heat Production
These saunas use infrared light to warm the body directly. They employ infrared heaters that emit radiation. This radiation is absorbed by the skin, creating a warming effect. Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas do not heat the air around you.

These saunas heat the body indirectly by warming the air. Traditional saunas have a stove that heats rocks to a high temperature. Water is then thrown onto the heated rocks, creating steam and raising the room's temperature.

Operating Temperatures
Infrared saunas tend to operate at a lower temperature, typically between 50-65°C. This is because the heat generated by infrared light penetrates the skin directly, creating a more intense sweating experience at a lower ambient temperature.

These saunas generally operate at higher temperatures, often between 65-90°C. The heat in traditional saunas is primarily in the air, and this hot, humid air warms the body.

Ease of Installation
These saunas are generally easier and more cost-effective to install than traditional saunas. They can often be assembled relatively easily and usually do not require major modifications to your home. Additionally, because infrared saunas heat the body directly rather than the air, they do not need a lot of power to operate, meaning they can often be used with standard electrical outlets.

In contrast, traditional saunas can be more challenging and costly to install. They typically require a dedicated space and significant power to heat the stove and the rocks. Steam saunas may also require proper ventilation to manage the humidity and sometimes waterproofing to prevent damage from the steam. These additional requirements can make the installation of traditional saunas more complex and potentially more expensive.

How Were Infrared Rays Discovered?

A great way to understand how our infrared saunas work is to first understand the principle behind infrared rays.

Infrared rays were originally a form of electromagnetic radiation discovered in sunlight by William Herschel in 1800. In fact, the story of the discovery of these rays is a true testament to how they could potentially benefit you in sauna form.

When Herschel was conducting an experiment to record the difference in temperature between colours in the visible spectrum of light through a prism. His results effectively proved that the Celsius value increased from blue to red.

To his surprise, the thermometer recorded a warmer reading beyond red, where there was no visible light or colour. And thus, Herschel discovered infrared rays and proved that they allowed more heat to be generated versus visible light.

This discovery served as the beginning of the study of infrared rays and eventually led to the development of saunas.

How Does an Infrared Sauna Work?

Infrared saunas use lamps to raise the temperature of the area. These serve as a non-invasive way to raise body temperature and help you enjoy the benefits.

These saunas use infrared panels instead of conventional heat to penetrate human tissue, warming your body before warming the air around you. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of how an infrared sauna works:

Infrared Heaters

Infrared saunas are equipped with Full Spectrum Heaters on either side of the door that emit infrared light. This light is not visible to the naked eye but can be felt as heat.

Direct Heat Transfer

The infrared light penetrates the skin, warming the body directly. This process is called radiant heat, and it can penetrate more deeply into the body's tissues than the superficial heat from traditional saunas.

Warming Effect

As the infrared light penetrates your skin, it creates a warming effect deep in your muscles and joints. This deep tissue warmth encourages a sweat response. With the deep tissue warmth, your body begins to sweat profusely at relatively lower temperatures than those found in traditional saunas.

Remember that while you're using an infrared sauna, it's crucial to stay hydrated. Because the heat is more deeply penetrating your tissues, you may sweat more than you realise, so drinking plenty of water before, during, and after your session is essential.

How Often Can I Use an Infrared Sauna?

For newcomers to Clearlight® infrared sauna use, it's generally recommended to start with shorter sessions, about 10 to 15 minutes, and gradually increase the duration over time.

Many people find that a session of 20-30 minutes, three times a week, is beneficial. Some even choose to use the sauna daily.

All things considered, it is important to listen to your body and not stay in the sauna longer than is comfortable.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before you begin your sauna routine:

Hydration

Saunas, including infrared ones, will make you sweat, which can lead to dehydration. It's important to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sauna session to maintain hydration.

Medical Conditions

Certain people, including those with some cardiovascular conditions, pregnant women, and people with skin conditions such as eczema, should avoid using a sauna unless they have consulted a medical professional or should use it under medical supervision.

Temperature

The temperature should be set at a comfortable level. Clearlight® infrared saunas typically operate between 50°-65°C. You should not feel dizzy or uncomfortable at any point.

While infrared saunas can offer an enjoyable and potentially beneficial experience, they are not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have any health conditions or concerns, it's always a good idea to consult a healthcare provider before starting a new wellness regimen.
